The Sprout CoWorking Community Gallery is proud to present the world premiere of
KATE WILSON: TWISTING REALITY
The latest photography designs by Kate Wilson, a local, award-winning, emerging artist will be displayed in a one month solo exhibition at the Sprout Gallery, 166 Valley Street, Providence, RI. The exhibit will be hung on June 1, 2017, and run through July 5. The opening reception is scheduled for Thursday, June 15, from 5:00–9:00 pm, in conjunction with Gallery Night Providence. Works included in the exhibition are from Wilson’s Transforming Reality Series. They drastically vary in size to pique curiosity. The works are printed on 100% cotton rag and mounted with a float frame or framed under glass.
Sweeping the professional art scene with her abstract and surrealist twist on what “is,” Wilson presents her work for the first time as a solo fine artist.
Her works deal with issues of how humans define reality and process discovery. Bold and graphic, yet detailed and delicate, this exhibition captures intimacies that suspend time and place. Ocean waves, honey bees, wire, and headlights get a new and fresh twist. Kate welcomes her viewer to join in the game. By making her art interactive, she taps into the reward and pleasure center of the brain.
“They are visually magnetic and mesmerizing, truly psychologically compelling natural abstractions, like Rorschach images,” said Ben Aronson, a renowned artist after viewing Wilson’s works.
Kate Wilson sees majesty in the simple all around, and through her eye, offers a visual adventure that challenges her audience to play along. Starting as simple photographs, her work becomes illusory through her creative process. As an added layer of intrigue, the viewer may discover a positive message hidden within, twisting reality on another level. Magnifying glasses will be on hand to assist viewers in their hunt for these treasures.
Kate Wilson’s art is influenced by her love of nature and fine art, her years spent as an educator, her work as a graphic designer, and her happy outlook on life. She lives and creates in Cranston, Rhode Island.
Welcome to Kate’s world, come and play!
